Take – The Getaway Mix
Percussion Lab just posted up a new mix from one of the founders of LAs current beats scene, Take (aka Sweatson Klank). His new album “Only Mountains” just dropped on Alpha Pup Records the other day, be sure to grab a copy HERE. Definitely my favorite release from Mr. Klank thus far.
We first came across west coast based producer Take a few years back after receiving a random promo disc in the mail. The disc was packed full of strictly low level, idm and glitch influenced hip hop instrumentals and we were instantly hooked. To be honest, we’ve wanted a Take mix on here since that day – its fitting that we get to drop this exclusive, “The Getaway Mix” on you all the day his forward thinking and genre dodging new album, “Only Mountain” is released.
Take’s definitely upped his game since the first time we heard from him. With influences from idm to R&B to dubstep, its hard to put a finger on exactly where he fits in the increasingly cluttered realm of genres – and thats exactly how we like it. “Only Mountain”, released today on Alpha Pup Records is one of the most sonically diverse spins on modern bass music we’ve heard in a while and luckily “The Getaway Mix” mix follows suit. Just check the tracklisting – from James Blake to Flying Lotus to Junior Parker – this is gonna be good…
